Design That Commands Attention:

The leaked photos reveal a striking red Thar 5-door, instantly reminiscent of the rugged Mahindra Classic from the 90s. This new model is bolder, more muscular, and undeniably modern. The front fascia is completely redesigned, boasting a six-slat grille (replacing the current model’s seven-slat design). The grille itself is more imposing, with thicker, wider slats that exude a sense of power. A silver front bumper and redesigned LED headlights with C-shaped DRLs complete the aggressive new look.

Feature-Rich and Ready for Adventure:

The Thar 5-door is expected to be packed with upgrades, including a fully digital instrument panel, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a refined interior. Mahindra is also reportedly adding Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) for enhanced safety, similar to the features found in their flagship XUV700 and Scorpio N models. Notably, the new Thar is expected to feature disc brakes on all four wheels, a significant improvement over the current model’s front-only disc brakes.

Comfort is also a priority, with rumors of front ventilated seats and connected technology features to enhance the driving experience.

Power, Performance, and Price:

The Thar 5-door, also known as the Thar Armada, is expected to be available in both rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and four-wheel-drive (4WD) configurations. It will likely share the same engine options as the current Thar: a 2.0-liter petrol engine and a 2.2-liter diesel engine, both available with manual or automatic transmissions.

With its upgraded features and premium positioning, the Thar 5-door is expected to compete with the recently launched Force Gurkha 5-door and Maruti Suzuki Jimny. However, its enhanced features and overall refinement could even see it rivaling the Mahindra Scorpio N.

While Mahindra has yet to release official pricing, reports suggest the entry-level RWD model could start around Rs 15 lakh, with the top-of-the-line 4WD model potentially reaching Rs 30 lakh, similar to its sibling, the Scorpio N.
