Xiaomi the well-known smartphone manufacturer has debuted its first electric car (EV) in China, which will be known as the MI-SU7. For this electric sedan, which Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co. Ltd. (BAIC) will manufacture under contract, the company has applied for a sales license. Xiaomi SU7 Dimension
The SU7 is an electric sedan with a wheelbase of 3000 mm and dimensions of 4997/1963/1455 mm. It has two wheel options: 19 and 20 inches, with 245/45 R19 and 245/40 R20 tires, respectively. Two versions, one with lidar and the other without, have been released by Xiaomi. The front windshield is in front of the lidar system.
Interestingly, pictures show a camera on the B pillar, indicating that the SU7 may have a face recognition unlocking feature. There are two options for the powertrain: an All-Wheel Drive (AWD) with a maximum power of 495 kW (220 kW + 275 kW) and a Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) with a 220 kW motor. For the more affordable model, there is an LFP pack from BYD; for the more expensive model, there is a ternary NMC pack from CATL.
The SU7’s curb weight is 1,980 kg, and its top speed is restricted to 210 km/h for the base model. With a curb weight of 2,205 kg, the higher trim model can reach a top speed of 265 km/h. Three versions are revealed in the MIIT filing: SU7, SU7 Pro, and SU7 Max. For increased performance, some trims come with an active rear wing. There are two color options available for the SU7’s interior: one with lidar on the front windshield and the other without.
United Automotive Electronics Co., Ltd. is the manufacturer of the TZ220XS000 electric motor model. With the vehicle’s Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) feature, you can automatically pay tolls on toll roads without having to stop. The SU7’s in-car system is powered by HyperOS, an internal operating system designed for both smartphones and automobiles. The SU7 is expected to go into mass production in December 2023, and deliveries are expected to begin in February 2024. Dozens of test vehicles are currently coming off the assembly line at the Beijing-based BAIC Off-road Vehicle Co. factory, where trial production of the SU7 has already begun.
